Award-winning bridges
BBR Technologies and know-how for bridges is founded on many years’ experience of creating elegant yet practical infrastructure. BBR Network teams around the world have realized many ambitious and award-winning bridge projects for their clients.

Post-tensioned structures
The use of post-tensioning for bridges allows very demanding geometry requirements, including complex curves, variable superelevation and significant grade changes to be met.
Extending infrastructure lifetime
BBR post-tensioning is also used to strengthen existing bridges. For example, innovative internal and external band CONA CMB post-tensioning was applied to extend the useful lifetime of the Lavant Bridge on Austria’s A2 South Motorway.
Construction methods
Cost-savings on concrete bridges are achieved partly through the construction method chosen which can reach up to 20% of total construction costs and partly through the structural system selected. The construction method depends mainly on topography and influences bridge cross-section design as well as span. Basically, five major techniques are employed. Keeping traffic moving

BBR Network Member, BBR Construction Systems Singapore constructed the superstructure for a complex 31-span, 1,368 m long post-tensioned approach bridge for Bangkok’s Industrial Ring Road project in Thailand. A major requirement was to keep all major roads open at all times, thus a Moveable Scaffold System (MSS) was the preferred choice for viaduct construction.
Bridges for high speed rail

Spanish BBR Network Member, BBR PTE, has been constructing several viaducts to carry Spain’s AVE high speed rail service.
On the route from Madrid to Santiago, the 18 span, 1,176 m long curved Barbantiño Viaduct, was post-tensioned using the BBR VT CONA CMI internal system and launched downhill.
