Fit for over 150 years’ service life

The sealing system of the BBR HiAm CONA strand stay cable system can now be replaced on an individual basis as part of single strand replacement operations. A complete BBR HiAm CONA strand stay cable assembly has been installed strand-by-strand and subsequently the sealing system has been installed on all strands. The cable assembly was then successfully subjected to a leak-tightness test, according to fib Bulletin 30, with axial, rotational and temperature cycles. By providing the world’s first strand stay cable system with the capability of single strand sealing replacement, the service life of BBR HiAm CONA cables is expected to exceed 150 years.
