The Romanian branch of BBR PTE has won the contract to provide strand stay cable technology for the 1,900m long Basarab Bridge in Bucharest. It is the third strand stay cable bridge - following hard on the heels of the Rio Seco and the landmark-to-be Serreria Bridge in Valencia designed by world famous architect Santiago Calatrava - which the European BBR Network has on its order books for 2008. The new bridge will link Titulescu Boulevard to the Grozavesti district and will carry both road and tramway traffic, relieving congestion in the north west of Bucharest and will be executed in joint venture by BBR PTE. BBR’s HiAm CONA stay cable technology - developed and tested for leak tightness, high fatigue resistance and high static strength - will yet again ensure the perfect harmony between durability, elegance and strength of this bridge.
